Tyler Bindon looks to have forced his way back into Chris Wilder's plans at Sheffield United
Tyler Bindon looks to have forced his way back into Chris Wilder's plans at Sheffield United amid previous murmurs of a recall to parent club Nottingham Forest ahead of the January transfer window.
In what was a difficult start, to say the least, to Sheffield United's 2025/26 EFL Championship season, the Blades look to have turned a corner and are fighting their way back up the league table.
The Ruben Selles experiment lasted just six games, all ending in defeat, leaving the club with its tail between its legs as they returned to Wilder once more, who they had dismissed just months prior following their play-off final defeat to Sunderland in May.
Wilder initially struggled to find form upon his return, but the Bramall Lane favourite has fired the club back up the league table, with a place in the play-offs slowly becoming a real possibility in South Yorkshire.
Their most recent 3-0 home victory over Birmingham City was as big a statement of intent as they have made this season, with on-loan Nottingham Forest centre-back Tyler Bindon impressing in particular.
The New Zealand international had spent much of his time on the bench since Wilder's return, but now looks to have given the Blades boss food for thought ahead of the January window, with an early recall previously looking like the most likely of options until now.

Bindon joined the South Yorkshire outfit on loan in the summer, with previous head coach Selles playing a large part in his arrival, having worked together during their time at Reading.
The New Zealand international failed to make an appearance under Wilder before an injury at half-time to Mark McGuinness in their 4-0 home win over Stoke City earlier this month meant he was afforded a chance. Indeed, last month, Football League World exclusively revealed that Wilder was looking to terminate the loans of Bindon along with Louie Barry and Ben Godfrey, and while the latter two are now set to return to their parent clubs, the ex-Reading star still has a chance of making the grade at Bramall Lane.
He started the following 1-1 home draw with Norwich City, but was dropped upon McGuinness' return in their 2-0 away defeat to West Brom, something Wilder has later admitted he may have got wrong, saying: "He's got a shirt and I know he enjoys it. He's played well today. He did well. I maybe got that selection wrong last week. Maybe I should have gone with Tyler at West Brom, but I didn't."
When asked about whether Bindon is likely to remain with the Blades beyond the January window, Wilder said, "You've seen there's a player in there and he's had to bide his time. But he's got an opportunity now and let's see where it goes.
"I’ve not made a decision on it. Tyler’s been excellent around the place, with his attitude. He’s taken his opportunity, and everything’s on the table.
"Let's see what happens [regarding his future]. He's playing and I'm not going to give everything away to Wrexham, but I don't think there's going to be a huge amount of changes to the back four because of the way they've played."
In a dramatic turn of events, it now looks as though Bindon has asserted himself in Wilder's plans after it looked almost certain a recall was on the cards, and not only has he reinstated his place in the Blades' plans, but he now looks to be ahead of McGuinness in the pecking order.

Sheffield United's summer window was patchy, at best.
They revamped their squad following their most recent play-off heartbreak and signed five players on loan, including Bindon, Djibril Soumare, Louie Barry, Ben Godfrey, and Chiedozie Ogbene.
It would be fair to suggest that none have met expectations upon their arrival, for one reason or another.
Barry has managed just nine Championship appearances this campaign whilst nursing a knee injury, whilst Godfrey's loan from Atalanta has already been confirmed to have been cut short, with the former Everton defender going through personal issues and limited to just four league appearances.
Ogbene had spent nine months out of action after an Achilles tendon injury last season whilst with Ipswich Town, and has yet to get up to speed at Bramall Lane, with a recent hamstring injury further hampering his campaign.
Soumare has featured sporadically thus far, with the likes of Sydie Peck, Jairo Riedewald, Gus Hamer, and Ollie Arblaster all providing competition in central midfield.
Now, it looks as though Bindon may well have revived his Sheffield United career at the perfect time, with the January window less than two weeks away, and he could yet prove to be an integral figure for the Blades moving forward this campaign.
