Ben Mee has sent a message to Sheffield United supporters following his exit from the club
Sheffield United ended a disappointing season on a high with a 2-1 victory away to play-off chasing Derby County on the final day, as attentions in South Yorkshire swiftly turn to the summer.
Sheffield United's campaign has been a hugely frustrating one, with the Blades never quite recovering from a hectic beginning to the season under Spanish boss Ruben Selles, in which the former Reading and Hull City boss was dismissed after just two games.
A scattergun approach in the summer transfer window left Chris Wilder scrambling to put a squad together, with the free additions of Jairo Riedewald and Patrick Bamford outside the window indicative of his discontent.
Three wins in their final five were enough to see them climb up to 13th at the end, finishing on 60 points, though for a club which achieved 90 points in 3rd place just last year, disappointment is rife.
Big changes will be made at Bramall Lane this summer in terms of players coming and going, whilst one defender in particular has already sent a message to Blades supporters upon his confirmed departure, with a potential subtle dig at Wilder there.

Veteran defender Ben Mee is set to leave Sheffield United this summer after just one year with the club, with his game time having been drastically limited throughout the campaign.
The 36-year-old joined on a free transfer from Brentford following his release from the Premier League club, being the final arrival of a hectic window under Selles.
However, Mee was limited to just 15 league appearances all season, with almost all of those coming in the first half of the campaign, eventually falling out of favour under Wilder and seeing his minutes diminish, as the former Burnley defender sends a message to Blades supporters upon the expiry of his deal.
In his farewell message, Mee states that whilst he is grateful for the opportunity of playing in front of Sheffield United supporters, he is 'disappointed' he wasn't able to do it more, possibly making a subtle dig at Wilder, who oversaw his lack of minutes.
With each of Japhet Tanganga, Tyler Bindon, Mark McGuinness, and January arrival Leo Hjelde ahead of Mee in the pecking order, the Englishman saw himself cut from the squad entirely after their 1-1 draw with Millwall in late January, not appearing in a single matchday squad thereafter.
Now, Mee, with over 270 appearances in the Premier League and 160 in the Championship under his belt, will be on the lookout for another club this summer where he will be hopeful of earning a few more minutes as his career winds down.
For Sheffield United and Wilder, their attention will be turning to the summer almost immediately, as the 58-year-old is set to embark on a busy few months of rebuilding his beloved Blades.

With this season now behind him, Wilder will be eager to move on a prepare his squad for next season, where he will be hoping to be much more competitive.
Five loan players will return to their parent clubs following the expiry of their loans, whilst key players such as Gus Hamer, Femi Seriki, and Andre Brooks have all previously been linked with moves away.
With parachute payments running out this summer for the Blades, they will almost certainly be looking to sell some of their assets to fund a rebuild, which, whilst not an ideal scenario, is something Wilder may be relishing.
Mee is just one of many exits from South Yorkshire this summer, as the rebuild at Bramall Lane commences.
