Tyler Bindon's start to life at Sheffield United was tough, but now he's become a vital player for Chris Wilder.

After a difficult start to the season, Sheffield United have slowly started to find their feet in the Championship and this slight up-turn in form has been matched by one young loanee.

Just a few months ago, the future of Tyler Bindon at the Blades looked to be settled, with the Nottingham Forest centre-back struggling for minutes following his move to Bramall Lane from the City Ground in the summer transfer window.

The New Zealand international went 14 games without making a single appearance for Sheffield United, but now he has become an extremely important player for Chris Wilder.

After it previously looked as though his time in South Yorkshire would be coming to a sudden end this January, his experienced manager may now just make a U-turn on that decision.

Sheffield United must keep hold of Tyler Bindon amid previous recall rumours

In November, Football League World exclusively revealed that Sheffield United were set to end the loan deals for Ben Godfrey, Louie Barry and Bindon. However, it now seems likely that the latter will remain in S2 for the rest of the season.

Nottingham Forest only signed the defender last January, before he was sent back on loan to League One outfit Reading, where he helped the Royals to a seventh-place finish.

The step-up to the Championship looked as though it was too much for the 20-year-old in the first few months of his move to Sheffield United in 2025/26, but in recent weeks he has shown that he has more than enough talent to feature in England's second division as the Blades look to push up the league table.

While he has been used as a bit-part player in his side's last few outings, his availability off the bench will be crucial for Wilder in the next few months with the battle for the play-offs stretching across much of the league.

Tyler Bindon will be desperate for substantial game-time at Sheffield United

Highly-rated at Reading, it had not been the easiest of rides for Bindon as Sheffield United made an incredibly poor start to the season, failing to pick up a point in any of their first six matches before eventually rising off the foot of the table in mid-October.

While the threat of the drop will still be in the back of the minds of many at Bramall Lane, the South Yorkshire outfit have started to find form and their New Zealand centre-back will be keen to play his part in the second-half of the season.

Not only that, but with his parent club struggling in the Premier League, Bindon will also want to impress those at Nottingham Forest in case the Reds are relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Wilder has started to place more trust in the 20-year-old recently, and that will only help inspire the defender to become a more influential member of the Sheffield United squad, and he must remain a part of his plans after this new-found confidence.
