Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund both featured in Denmark’s starting 11 during their goalless draw with Serbia on Tuesday night.

In what was their final Euro 2024 Group C clash, a point was enough to help Denmark secure second place, thereby guaranteeing their progression to the round of 16.

As an attacking midfielder, Eriksen proved to be Denmark’s key player on the night, particularly as their primary corner-kicktaker. In fact, one of his corner kicks reached its intended target who scored, only for the goal to be disallowed when it was determined that Eriksen’s initial cross went slightly out of play on the way into the box.

Eriksen himself took one shot that was blocked, while he attained 78% passing accuracy with 39 of 50 attempted passes reaching their target. He notably made two key passes while completing two out of three long balls.

The midfielder managed to win two of his three ground duels while completing one tackle and a solitary clearance.

For Hojlund, it was a slightly less eventful night, as he saw little of the ball given his team’s struggle to build up a convincing attack.

He took one shot, albeit a powerful one, that forced the Serbian goalkeeper to make a save in the bottom left corner.

With only 21 touches on the night, Hojlund had an impressive 91% pass accuracy, missing just one of his 11 attempted passes. He also provided two key passes on the attack.

His physicality was not up to standard, however, as he lost both of his aerial duels while winning just one of his six ground duels. He was also unable to complete his only attempted dribble on the night.

While an understated performance from both Eriksen and Hojlund, the Manchester United duo still proved to be key members of the Danish squad who played their part to lift their side into the knockout rounds.

Given that Eriksen scored his side’s only goal in a 1-1 draw against Slovenia, he certainly has enjoyed more success at Euro 2024 than his Man United teammate Hojlund, who is still waiting to find the back of the net.

Still, the pair will almost certainly be critical to Denmark’s success in the tournament should they be able to find their rhythm in the knockout stages of the tournament.
