Bayern Munich have been recently linked with a move for Manchester United attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes for next summer.

Fernandes moved to Man Utd in the January window of 2020 from Sporting CP, and quickly became one of their key players, if not ‘the key player’.

Fernandes was linked with a move away from Old Trafford during the summer transfer window, with Saudi Pro League clubs showing particular interest.

He turned down lucrative offers from both Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, and has recently admitted that he never thought of leaving Man Utd.

However, uncertainty still looms over his future, and recent reports suggest that Bayern are eyeing a move for him, with United setting up a £70m price tag.

Bayern not interested in Fernandes

The German champions are not particularly interested in signing Fernandes in the next window, as they have other priorities.

The arrival of Luis Diaz from Liverpool and Nicolas Jackson on loan from Chelsea in the summer window has added tremendous depth to their squad, and they will only get better when Jamal Musiala returns to full fitness.

Bayern have high hopes for Musiala, who primarily operates in the number 10 role, and they have other options in that department.

Serge Gnabry, for instance, has been superb in the attacking midfield role in the absence of Musiala, and he is even ready to accept a pay cut to continue his stay at Allianz Arena beyond the end of his contract.

Bayern, moreover, have taken cost-cutting measures and they want to reduce the wage bill of the team. In such a scenario, they cannot afford to meet around 20m Euros per year minimum for Fernandes.
