Christian Leca, former AC Ajaccio president, was on Wednesday 4 February found guilty of public defamation by the Paris criminal court over a 2022 claim that the LFP’s disciplinary commission was xenophobic, according to L'Équipe.

The case followed a January 2022 decision in which the commission suspended AC Ajaccio defender Oumar Gonzalez for one match.

Then an LFP board member and president of the Ligue 2 college, Leca issued a club communiqué sharply criticising the ruling.

He accused commission president Sébastien Deneux and his panel of xenophobia, likened the body to Landru, and argued it invoked ethics while applying sanctions according to the club involved.

After Deneux lodged a complaint, the court held that the gravity of the xenophobia allegation justified a conviction for public defamation against an individual, and ordered Leca to pay 1,500 euros in damages and interest.
