City Academy Director Krucken visits New York City FC | OneFootball

City’s Academy Director Thomas Krucken recently visited City Football Group sister club New York City Football Club and their Academy to share and gain knowledge ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Krucken, who has been in the role for just over a year, travelled to the States to meet New York City staff working across the first team and Academy.

On his first day in New York, the Academy Director visited Philadelphia Union to watch first-team training before taking the time to speak with the directors at the club. The group discussed player development and shared ideas about the vision of the Academy.

Day two was spent at New York City and around the first-team environment. Krucken met with the coaching staff, watched training.

Krucken’s final day in the States saw him attend New York City’s Academy where he met staff and observed Under-16 and Under-18 training sessions.

The German shared his insight into Academy systems, nurturing future talent and staff development too.

And the trip was topped off with the exchanging of club shirts with Krucken grateful to have met so many talented members of staff and young aspiring players.

“I really enjoyed the trip,” said Krucken. “I think we have a great opportunity in the City Football Academy to share knowledge and ideas through the whole group.

“It was a fantastic opportunity to meet the staff in New York. It was my first time to be able to start a relationship with them and we shared thoughts around youth football, talent development and focused player development.

“It was brilliant to share ideas internally and being able to learn from each other which was the key for me. It was very useful to get ideas from them and I hope they got some information from us too.”
