Manchester City have become just the fourth side in Barclays Women’s Super League history to play 200 matches, reaching the milestone with the competition’s best record.

Gareth Taylor’s side racked up a double century of fixtures following a 3-0 win against Crystal Palace, with only Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton able to match that tally.

Goals from Jess Park, Jill Roord and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw set the Blues on our way to victory at Selhurst Park, extending our unbeaten start to the 2024/25 season to ten matches in all competitions.

In doing so, City took our overall points total in WSL history to 455, seven more than our closest rivals Arsenal* and 37 more than Chelsea were able to in their first 200 games.

The 143 wins to our name and just 159 goals conceded are also the best records of the four teams to have reached 200 WSL fixtures, while only the Gunners (29) have lost fewer matches than City’s 31.

Once again, our total goals scored (482) is bettered only by Arsenal (500), but is five more than Chelsea.

Unsurprisingly, legendary former captain Steph Houghton has appeared in the most WSL matches for City, featuring in 138 before retiring in May 2024.

Of the current squad, Lauren Hemp’s total of 108 appearances is top of the charts with Alex Greenwood (86) and Laura Coombs (72) completing the top three.

Overall, 50 different City players have found the net in the WSL. Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw is our frontrunner with 54 strikes to her name, while Hemp (43) and Chloe Kelly (21) are the next highest among our 2024/25 cohort.

At the other end, the Blues have kept 95 clean sheets in the WSL, with Ellie Roebuck’s tally of 45 the most of any goalkeeper.

Karen Bardsley is next closest with 30, but Khiara Keating is the highest among the current squad with 11 to her name from 40 appearances following her latest shutout against Palace.

Congratulations to everyone involved across that double century, and here’s to the next 200 matches!

*Arsenal had three points deducted in 2013 for fielding an ineligible player.
