The 2026 FIFA World Cup gets under way on Thursday 11 June, with 17 City players chasing football's ultimate prize.
Representing 12 different nations across three separate continents, only German champions Bayern Munich have a larger representation this summer in Canada, Mexico and the United States among their active squad.
James Trafford, Marc Guéhi, Nico O’Reilly have each made the England squad - our largest representation this summer - with the Three Lions looking to improve on semi-final and quarter-final exits in the past two tournaments.
European Champions Spain and 2022 runners-up France go in as two of the pre-tournament favourites, with Rodri and Rayan Cherki both sure to make their mark this summer.
Or are Croatia set to challenge again after reaching the 2018 final and 2022 semis? Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol will be aiming to make that happen again this summer.
Matheus Nunes and Ruben Dias will be confident Portugal can go deep into the competition, as will Netherlands duo Nathan Ake and Tijjani Reijnders and Belgian winger Jeremy Doku, fresh off a fantastic season with City.
Meanwhile, Norway return for their first Men’s World Cup since 1998, with our number nine Erling Haaland leading the line, and Omar Marmoush and Rayan Ait-Nouri will also be aiming to make their mark on Egypt and Algeria’s return for the first time in three and four tournaments respectively.
Antoine Semenyo was a relative newcomer on the international scene when he was part of the Ghana squad in 2022 but now, as a leading light for his nation, he’ll be hoping to inspire the Black Stars this summer.
And then there’s Abdukodir Khusanov - Uzbekistan’s talisman in his nation’s first-ever World Cup finals appearance.
Whatever the outcome, this summer’s tournament is sure to live long in the memory.
You can follow our players’ progress right here on mancity.com and the official Man City app, with detailed match reports available each morning, documenting how our City stars have fared across the summer.
Everyone at City would like to wish our 17 representatives the very best of luck at the 2026 World Cup.
