Cláudia Lima retires at 29 and takes new FC Porto role

Cláudia Lima announced her retirement on Sunday at 29. The FC Porto midfielder helped the women’s team win trophies and secure promotion to the second division, then to the first this year.

She was the first footballer announced in the 2024 squad, according to O Jogo.

Lima admits she would have liked to keep playing and extend a 21-year career, but considers that impossible.

She will remain with Porto as part of the women’s coaching staff.

She is currently undertaking a coaching course, Level II.
