He cannot afford to spend the second half of this season on the periphery of Girona’s first team. He cannot afford to have another unproductive loan spell, given the talented young players in Manchester City’s academy. Another difficult loan spell for Echeverri could see him become an afterthought at the Etihad. You do sense that Echeverri is too good a talent to go down that road.
