Claudio Ranieri is open to working with Italy after leaving his advisory post at Roma, saying he is available if approached.

According to L'Équipe, the 74-year-old, speaking in Portofino at the Gianni Di Marzio Prize, said he would seriously consider an offer from the Nazionale, without defining the role.

He would be a potential successor to Gennaro Gattuso, who resigned after Italy failed to reach the World Cup, drawing 1-1 after extra time against Bosnia and Herzegovina and losing 1-4 on penalties.

Ranieri said he is free and would not rule anything out if called, adding that if the federation contacts him, the reply has to be yes.

He has never managed Italy, but won the Premier League with Leicester in 2016 and has coached Chelsea, Juventus, Inter, Monaco and Atlético Madrid.
