Clayton has joined Olympiakos from Rio Ave in a move completed late in the winter window, the forward previously linked to Benfica, Sporting and Porto.

The reigning Greek champions have signed the 27-year-old Brazilian late in the window. According to Glorioso 1904, the fee was around five million euros, far below the 15 million Rio Ave had previously sought when Benfica showed interest.

He arrived in Athens on Sunday and was officially unveiled on Tuesday. Named in the squad to face Asteras Tripolis in the 17th round on Wednesday, he could make his debut within days for a side that lead the league and keep ambitious Champions League aims.

Clayton was Rio Ave’s top scorer this season. He also reunites with André Luiz, a former team-mate who moved to Olympiakos in the same window.

Rio Ave bid farewell on Monday night. Since joining the Vila do Conde club in summer 2024, he made 56 appearances and scored 28 goals. Before departing, he posted a message of thanks, highlighting his learning and development at the club.
