Earlier this month, reports emerged that Bayern Munich were interested in signing Liverpool teen sensation Rio Ngumoha

The 17-year-old enjoyed a fantastic 2025-26 campaign under Arne Slot, and Liverpool rate him highly.

Understably, the Reds camp made it clear that the player was not for sale, and Bayern looked for options elsewhere.

The Bavarian club are reportedly looking to negotiate a deal for PSV Eindhoven’s Ismael Saibari, while they are close to reaching an agreement for Nathaniel Brown as well.

Rumour surrounding Rio Ngumoha’s move to Bayern

Christian Falk has told CFBayern Insider that Bayern were genuinely interested in signing Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha.

There was an interest from the player side with his brother rumoured to have visited Bayern’s camp to hold transfer talks.

The Bild journalist claimed: “It is TRUE: Bayern Munich were concretely interested in Rio Ngumoha. There were rumours that his brother, who is involved in his career around transfers, was at Säbener Straße for talks and signalled that the winger would be interested in going to Bayern Munich, and it would be no issue in sorting out contract details and the salary.

“FC Bayern had a very clear signal when they knocked on the door at Liverpool that there would be no time or reason for talks; there would be no negotiations. They’re so convinced about the player and his potential that they signalled he wouldn’t be sold. It won’t happen.”

Rio Ngumoha simply not for sale

Ngumoha signed his first professional deal with Liverpool in September, and has a contract at Anfield until 2028.

The Reds youngster made 29 appearances across all competitions in 2025-26, contributing two goals and an assist.

Ngumoha was reportedly aware of Bayern’s strong interest, but the German champions were immediately knocked back after they made an inquiry.

After a disappointing 2025-26 season, Liverpool are looking to bolster their attacking department, and they see Ngumoha as an integral part of their future plans.
