As Ibrox Noise has been reporting recently, Philippe Clement has confirmed that returning Ianis Hagi’s situation was contractual, and that while without specifically giving details, the Belgian did affirm the Ross Wilson angle.

Speaking before Rangers host Lyon, the Ibrox confirmed the Hagi situation was indeed based on his contract:

“That it was a contract issue from before my time so the issue is solved. Both parties, the club and Hagi, came together and now it is resolved. So clearly I am happy that this situation, that I didn’t like to have, is resolved now.”

Before Clement’s time was Ross Wilson and that bonkers clause added to Hagi’s contract extension of an absurd pay rise at 100 appearances while the boy was still injured.

Rangers’ board was not willing to shell out the extra cash and Hagi was forced into the reserves for the foreseeable future, until he effectively realised if he didn’t waive the wage rise he wasn’t going to play.

This was not a Clement decision, not that we believe he’s Hagi’s biggest fan or anything, it was a board one in concert with Hagi.

In short, Hagi refused to waive the wage rise, and the board refused to pay it.

It led to an impasse which was only recently resolved with Hagi agreeing to accept his existing terms.

Ross Wilson should NEVER have offered this wage rise, not to an injured player at least, and if any rise is going to appear, it should be an active player who is contributing big time to the team, hence Dujon Sterling today.

But the situation is now resolved, and Clement gets an extra body, and finally the Romanians can stop abusing and stalking Ibrox Noise!
