Rangers defender Clinton Nsiala has returned to first-team training after former manager Russell Martin bombed him out of the picture.

They visit Norwegian club Brann in the Europa League today, but Nsiala will not be involved as he was not included in the squad for the competition.

The Frenchman was part of the team under Philippe Clement and Barry Ferguson, but Martin told him he could leave during the summer transfer window.

Nsiala rejected a move to Dynamo Kyiv and was training away from the rest of the Rangers first-team under the former manager.

However, Rohl’s arrival has given everyone a clean slate, and the former French youth international has been spotted training alongside other players.

Rangers return to Scottish Premiership action on Sunday when they host Kilmarnock. Nsiala will not start, given his lack of match fitness, but could be part of the matchday squad.

Rohl will pick his own team and give everyone equal opportunities to impress, which could result in Nsiala forcing his way back into the team.

His return to training is an opportunity to prove himself all over again, and the onus is now on him to convince the German and the coaching staff of his quality.

Rohl will be desperate to hit the ground running at Rangers, and a victory tonight will be a perfect start for him.
