Serie A champions Inter have now been pushing to sign Liverpool’s Curtis Jones. Even if their attempts haven’t led to a concrete reward, they are lying in wait with a very keen plan.

Get Italian Football News looked at Inter’s initial talks with the Reds for the midfielder. There appeared to be a gap between the clubs but a deal isn’t off the table yet.

Gazzetta dello Sport report that Jones has given his complete priority to joining Inter. It is also believed that the initial talks between the clubs have actually brought them closer, even if an agreement wasn’t quite reached as they signalled the intention to execute a move.

Reliance on contract

It is felt that a deal this year would suit everyone, as Jones’ contract at Liverpool runs out in 2027 and the Reds won’t want to lose him for free. The player would also get his desired move, with Inter also signing a target who is now seen as a much viable option than Manu Kone.

This is what Inter feel and they are confident that Liverpool’s valuation of €35 million will reduce.

Relationship with entourage

It doesn’t end there, as Inter have dealt with the same entourage as that of Jones when they signed Manuel Akanji on loan. They will also sign the Swiss permanently and could also speak to the same agents for Jhon Lucumi.

That is why there is a working relationship there and it can bring everyone closer.

Liverpool’s demand stumbling block

As things stand though, it is Arne Slot’s side who are putting up a challenge. Apart from the valuation, they would like a high sell-on clause in his deal. They would even accept a lower fee upfront for that but Inter would much rather keep the sell-on clause low.

This can be a crucial pointer in the move and will be decisive for the Englishman’s future.
