Fabrizio Romano has recently provided an update on one of the more stranger Chelsea transfer stories that is going on this week as we head into the final days of the window.
Chelsea are expecting to do a number of deals this week, with many outgoings on the cards and potentially still one of two more new arrivals. It’s going to be a very busy week at Stamford Bridge this week, and many of these deals could now run into deadline day.
Romano has some updates on Kepa Arrizabalaga’s future. Yes, Kepa is still a Chelsea player, and according to this update, he is going to STAY as a Chelsea player, at least officially.
It looks like Kepa is about to go on loan to Bournemouth and not be sold permanently. And as well as that, it sounds like he is going to extend his Chelsea contract too.
As seen above, Romano says:
‘Understand Bournemouth are closing in on deal to sign Kepa from Chelsea! Still key details to sort but loan deal until June 2025 (extending his contract at Chelsea until 2026) now close after late night talks. If all good later today, Kepa will travel for medical tests.’
It sounds like this one is moving fast. You’d suspect that Chelsea will try and put an obligation to buy in the deal, or at the very least an option.
But if it is the latter, then there would be a risk that Kepa could still be a Chelsea player this time next year, which would be crazy!
