Club Alianza Fontana Oeste marked 36 years since its foundation on 5 February. According to SuperDepor.com, it was formed in summer 1990 through the merger of Deportivo Oeste and Fontana, then in the Liga Independiente de Fútbol Costa Atlántica, aiming to step into the Liga de Fútbol del Valle del Chubut.

The new entity adopted blue and grana in homage to San Lorenzo de Almagro, a choice driven by Antonio Villegas, a collaborator in the foundation. Those colours have identified the club ever since.

The official debut in Divisional C came on 24 March 1990 with a 3-2 victory over Alumni, a fixture that would become the club's clásico. The goals were scored by Héctor Carrasco and Manccini, who struck twice.

In that first tournament, AFO reached the final against Foderami. After winning the first leg, the return in Trelew went to penalties and the title stayed with the Trelew side.
