MEXICO CITY – Club América Femenil won 7-nil against Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the 2023/25 Concacaf W Champions Cup on Wednesday at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes in Mexico City, Mexico.

The two-time Liga MX Femenil winners started their debut W Champions Cup with three points to take first place in Group B on goal difference.

Sarah Luebbert opened the scoring in the 20’ with a header in the box to meet a cross from Nicolette Hernández.

Hernández went from assist woman to scorer in the 25’, shooting from open play into the bottom right side of the net.

América captain Kiana Palacios added her name to the scoresheet in the 26’, winning a ball from the Vancouver defense to strike from outside the box.

Scarlett Camberos added a fourth goal for Las Águilas in the 31’, receiving an assist from Sabrina Enciso to shoot past Whitecaps FC goalkeeper Morgan McAslan.

Irene Guerrero continued the scoring in the second half, striking from outside the box in the 50’ for the fifth goal of the night.

Aylín Aviléz was the author of the sixth goal in the 73’ after receiving the ball from Camberos.

Mia Zuazua came off the bench to score from outside the box in the 85’ and put a bow on the Mexican club's first W Champions Cup victory.

América Femenil’s next test will come against three-time NWSL champions Portland Thorns on September 4 at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon, United States.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC will retake the field against Santa Fe on September 4 at the Estadio Universidad Latina in Penonomé, Panama.
