MEXICO CITY – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup continued with Club América and CD Olimpia drawing nil-nil in the Second Leg of their Round One series, with the former advancing 2-1 on aggregate, on Wednesday at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes in Mexico City, Mexico.
Club América entered the match with a 2-1 lead after winning the first leg in Honduras. The visitors arrived in Mexico City with one goal to their name, seeking to make the comeback.
The two teams held each other scoreless during the first half. Emanuel Hernández had a heading attempt for Olimpia in the 42’ but could not get it past Luis Malagón.
An incredible save by Olimpia captain Edrick Menjívar in the 49’ stopped Victor Davila’s attempt, sending the ball over the crossbar.
Érick Sánchez had a look from outside the box in the 60’ but was denied by Menjívar.
Club América sealed its ticket to the Round of 16 with the nil-nil result, winning the series 2-1 on aggregate. Las Águilas will face the winner of the Philadelphia Union and Defence Force FC series next month.
