Real Madrid have been left scrambling after Leny Yoro opting against to join them, and instead signed for Manchester United. On the back of this, club bosses have decided that no transfer funds will be allocated towards an alternative, and if needs be, no one will be added to Carlo Ancelotti’s options for the upcoming season.

This stance will affect their efforts to sign Aymeric Laporte, who has emerged as a leading candidate for Los Blancos. According to Diario AS, Al-Nassr are willing to let the Euro 2024 winner leave, but only if they receive close to the €27m spent to sign him from Manchester City last summer.

On the other hand, Real Madrid will only sign Laporte if he comes free of charge. The player himself is willing to make that happen – he’s incredibly interested in a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, and is willing to tear up the last two years of his current contract. However, Al-Nassr will not allow that to happen, as they want to receive a significant fee.

Real Madrid look like they could be fighting a losing battle in this one, although having the player’s desire could go a long way to sorting out a deal this summer. If they can bring Laporte in on the cheap, it would be an excellent signing.
