Feyenoord have called off a deal to sign a midfielder from Premier League side Wolves after he picked up an injury.

The De Kuip outfit have been unsure if they would have to deal with the loss of Santiago Gimenez to Nottingham Forest in recent days, but the Mexico star has so far decided against the move.

They were all set to sign midfielder Boubacar Traore from Wolves, with a deal almost in place for the move to happen, according to Dutch magazine Voetbal International.

Traore though played for Wolves in the EFL Cup earlier this week and got injured, with him likely being sidelined for a period of months.

He turned out in Wolves’ 2-0 win over Burnley at Molineux, but the injury means that Feyenoord have now called off the deal.

Traore did not play in either of Wolves’ opening two Premier League games.

He made a total of 24 appearances in the Premier League for Wolves across the course of last season and was booked on four occasions.
