Torino director Davide Vagnati has stated he’s been surprised by what he’s seen for Cesare Casadei since he joined the club in January.
Casadei was the only permanent departure in the January window and after a long drawn out saga he finally joined Torino despite interest from Lazio.
The Italian didn’t get much of a look in during his time at Chelsea and had loan spells at both Reading and Leicester, with the midfielder recalled from the Foxes in January last year.
Casadei didn’t play a single minute of Premier League football under Enzo Maresca, although he featured regularly in the league phase of the Conference League.
It became apparent if Casadei wanted regular minutes then he would need to leave given the competition for places in midfield, and he completed a €15m switch to Torino in January.

The Blues secured a sell on clause in the deal meaning they will be in line to make some money when Casadei eventually leaves Torino.
Casadei has seemingly made a good start to life at Torino with one goal and one assist in seven games, and Vagnati has been pleasantly surprised by his impact.
“I do my job, like others do theirs, everyone has their own needs,” he said as quoted by The Chelsea Chronicle.

“I did everything possible, as did the president, to bring him here. Cesare is a very important player, he is also stronger than I thought, he is a perspective player and we are very happy that he has decided to come to Turin.”
As it turns out given the constant injury issues with Romeo Lavia, and a lack of trust in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Casadei may have featured on a more regular basis over the second half of the season, whilst the Blues certainly could have done with him as an option in the Conference League.
