Mateus Mane is on Liverpool’s radar

Reds will of course be excited to see a player named Mane doing well, owing to fond memories of Sadio Mane, but it isn’t just his name that has Liverpool interested.

The 18-year-old has been a gem in the rough in a struggling Wolves side this campaign, making his full debut against the Reds at the end of December and starting every game since.

The midfielder has scored in each of his last two games, a win over West Ham and a 1-1 draw with Everton on Wednesday night.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool scouts were present at the Hill Dickinson to watch the England U18 international score against their Merseyside rivals.

A number of other teams have scouted Mane this month, with the report claiming that more than half of the teams in the Premier League have sent scouts to assess him.

Will Liverpool get their new Mane in January?

One of the main issues with Slot’s side this season has been frustration in front of goal, especially when playing teams that defend deep.

That’s why, for many supporters, signing another attacking minded player in January is the solution.

Mane fits the bill, he is young and exciting and probably wouldn’t command an astronomical fee like Antoine Semenyo.

According to TEAMtalk, the starlet is in no rush to leave Molineux however, and Wolves have also ruled out a winter sale of their bright spark.

A summer move cannot be ruled out though, and with it looking almost certain that Wolves will face the drop, it may be very difficult for them to keep hold of Mane beyond this season.

Mane won’t be the January addition that rescues Liverpool’s season, but he could be a perfect addition to their attacking arsenal in the summer as the Reds look to challenge for the title once again.
