1.FC Koln would only be prepared to sell midfielder Dejan Ljubicic to Leeds United if the Whites decide to table a much-improved offer for him.
The 26-year-old midfielder has been identified as a top target as Leeds look to bring in a number of new faces before the window closes next week.
The Austrian wants the move and was missing from Koln’s German Cup game over the weekend.
However, Leeds’ offer of €4m is not good enough to convince the German second-tier club to sell the midfielder in the ongoing transfer window.
According to German magazine Kicker, Koln feel that selling Ljubicic makes little sense unless the fee is drastically higher, given his status as a key player.
Koln are expected to be in the race for promotion this season and the midfielder is considered a key part of their squad.
The German club are unlikely to want to jeopardise their promotion hopes for the sake of a low transfer fee.
Leeds would have to push the envelope and table a far improved offer if they want to take Ljubicic to Elland Road.
