The Club World Cup knockout stage is upon us as the tournament kicks into gear with the last-16 stage.

Chelsea put their shaky group stage behind them as they defeated Benfica 4-1 in an extraordinary encounter in Charlotte, North Carolina to set up a meeting with Estevao’s Palmeiras in the quarter-final after the all-Brazilian showdown with Botafogo was settled by one goal after extra-time.

Facing the European champions in Paris Saint-Germain proved to be a step too far for Lionel Messi and Inter Miami as they were thumped 4-0 on Sunday. PSG will now face Bayern Munich after the Bundesliga champions defeated Flamengo.

Manchester City routed Juventus in Orlando on Thursday to confirm their first-place finish in Group G - but were brought stunningly back down to earth with a 4-3 loss to Al-Hilal after extra time.

A leggy Real Madrid did just enough to beat out Juventus in their one-goal round of 16 clash, with Gonzalo Garcia scoring the eventual winner after 54 minutes. They will face Borussia Dortmund in the last eight after the German outfit beat Monterrey.
