AC Milan now own young full-back Alex Jimenez outright after a season spent on loan from Real Madrid and many at the club think he has a big future ahead of him.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has provided some clarity over the deal for Jimenez which has seen Milan pay €5m to Real Madrid for the Spaniard’s services.

The 2005-born player is now being viewed as the backup to Theo Hernandez and a serious part of the first team, although that could change if another left-back joins the club during the summer transfer window.

That would likely see him move between the first team and the U23 side. Ignazio Abate gets a lot of the credit for shaping Jimenez into the player he now is during that first year at the club.

The former Primavera coach is a big part of why Jimenez opted to stay at the club rather than go back to Real Madrid, which is always an attractive option for any player.

The only concern for Milan is that Real Madrid have got two options to buy the player back. One comes into effect in June 2025 and could see him leave for €9m, and the other is for €12m in June 2026.
