This Sunday sees Celtic Women’s third and final game of December before the winter break kicks in as the Hoops travel to the capital to take on Hibernian at Meadowbank.

Elena Sadiku’s side go into the game on the back of two sterling results and performances with a goal-laden 14-0 win over Dunfermline Athletic in the Scottish Cup two weeks ago followed by an impressive 4-0 SWPL defeat of Aberdeen last Sunday.

Obviously, the manager is keen to see the Ghirls maintain that level of attitude and performance going into this next challenge.

She said: “I’m most proud of the relentlessness that we showed and the professional performance in both games.

‘The intensity has been really, really good, and when we play with that intensity, both defensively and offensively, it’s very hard to play against us.’

“So, we’ve had a great build-up with the cup game, and obviously Aberdeen and now we’re going to face Hibs, so I know that the players are ready for Sunday.”

The game against Aberdeen had the potential to be a tough test considering it took two late goals to beat the Dons 4-2 at Balmoral Stadium back in September.

However, with little over 20 minutes gone at New Douglas Park last weekend, the Hoops were already 3-0 up against the visitors.

The head coach said: “Obviously we’ve talked a lot, and we want to be an intense team. We want to break the lines, we want to create chances to score, and the players have done really well in that.

“The start that we had against Aberdeen was tremendous, it was really, really good.”

With those fine results under their belt, the Ghirls are aiming to finish 2025 on high against a side who go into the game on the back of two draws and a defeat, the most recent of those being a surprise 1-1 deadlock at Montrose.

However, Sadiku and her charges are only focusing on themselves ahead of this final game of the year.

The Swede said: “We are going to go and be us, we’re going to make sure that we keep building what we’ve been building on.

“We are going to make sure that we are still relentless, that we are still very professional in how we behave, how we act and how we play our kind of football.

“But the most important thing is that we have a belief in what we do and that we go out there and enjoy it because this is the last game of the year.

“We want to make sure that we get a great performance and a great result.

“The best possible way to finish it is with three points. That’s what I’m looking forward to, to see the team that I’ve seen for the last two weeks, and to make sure that we are the same team on Sunday as well.”

Keep up with all the action on the official Match Centre.
