Eray Cömert, Valencia’s sole representative at the World Cup, has not played a minute for Switzerland after two group matches.
As reported by AS, he will leave Valencia on 30 June when his contract expires, with no extension planned.
Switzerland drew with Qatar in their opener and thrashed Bosnia in their second game, leaving progression to the round of 32 within reach.
For now, Cömert is not in Murat Yakin’s plans, with Elvedi and Akanji the trusted centre-backs.
Valencia still stand to receive around €300,000 at minimum from the Club Benefits Programme for the World Cup, which pays €9,321 per day a player remains with his national team.
Switzerland’s final group match is on 24 June, keeping their squad in camp for close to a month, and the payment could rise if they progress.
