Tiago Djalo’s move to Roma from Juventus is now off following concerns surrounding his medical, which means the Giallorossi have now turned their attention in the direction of former Atletico Madrid centre-back Mario Hermoso.

Djalo is currently on his way back to Turin and is likely to remain a Juventus player, at least until the next transfer window, unless the Bianconeri are able to sell him to a club in a country where the transfer window remains open beyond August 30.

Roma set sights on Hermoso after Djalo collapse

According to recent updates, Roma’s next target will be Hermoso, who is currently a free agent after leaving Atletico Madrid at the end of his contract earlier this summer.

That deal is not restricted by the close of the transfer window, as the player is a free agent and can sign at any point.

Hermoso has been linked with moves to several Serie A clubs this summer, including to Napoli and Inter earlier in the window. Gianluca Di Marzio suggests that he had been close to joining Galatasaray, but Roma’s interest could be enough to sway him.

Di Marzio adds that if Chris Smalling leaves the club in the coming days, Roma could turn to another free agent in Germany veteran Mats Hummels.
