Colombia and Portugal face off on Sunday at Miami Stadium in a decisive final Group K clash that will determine who finishes top of the group and influence their opponents in the next round.
Colombia come into this game in outstanding form, currently on a four-match winning run across all competitions. In the World Cup group stage, they have already booked their place in the Round of 32 after back-to-back wins, beating Uzbekistan 3-1 and then narrowly overcoming DR Congo 1-0 thanks to a goal from Daniel Muñoz.
Before the tournament, they also recorded friendly victories over Costa Rica and Jordan. With just two defeats throughout 2026 so far, Colombia’s defensive strength and well-organised approach make them a difficult side to break down.
Heading into this crucial encounter, manager Néstor Lorenzo has almost a full squad available, with no significant suspension concerns affecting his selection.
The only slight issue involves forward Luis Suárez, who is still dealing with a minor shoulder problem. However, he is expected to be fit enough to start and lead the attack.
Given that finishing top of the group could help them avoid stronger opponents in the Round of 32, Lorenzo is unlikely to make major changes to his lineup.
Colombia are expected to stick with their strongest eleven and continue using their trusted 4-3-3 formation.
Their attacking approach will focus heavily on exploiting the wings, particularly through the speed and directness of Luis Díaz. Colombia only need a draw to secure first place in the group.
Possible Colombia starting XI: Vargas; Munoz, Sanchez, Lucumi, Mojica; Puerta, Arias, Lerma; J Rodriguez, L Suarez, Diaz
The match will kick off at 12:30am BST on Sunday, 28th June.
