Serie A will honour Rocco Commisso with a minute’s silence before this weekend’s matches, while several clubs in Italy and abroad, including Real Madrid, have paid tribute to the late Fiorentina President.
Fiorentina sadly announced Commisso’s passing on Saturday morning. The Italian-American businessman was aged 76, and he had been the Fiorentina owner since 2019.

As reported by Sky Sport Italia, a minute’s silence to honour Commisso will be held before this weekend’s games across the professional men’s and women’s leagues in Italy.
Several Italian football clubs and personalities have paid tribute to Commisso since Fiorentina announced his death this morning.
“With Rocco Commisso, we lose a person of great human and entrepreneurial stature,” Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis wrote on X social media.
“My heartfelt condolences to his wife, Catherine, his children Giuseppe and Marisa, his sisters Italia and Raffaelina and all his family. This is also an enormous loss for Fiorentina and for Italian football.”
Inter President Beppe Marotta said: “With Commisso, we lose one of the last examples of patron-president, we lose a genuine and transparent person who made passion his hallmark, we lost a person of great value, inspiration, and fighting spirit. He can only be remembered positively.”
Como President Mirwan Suwarso also paid tribute to Commisso on social media, and so did New York Cosmos, the MLS team that Commisso co-owned, and La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Lega Serie A President Ezio Maria Simonelli called Commisso “a man of extraordinary energy and passion, who knew how to link his entrepreneurial and human story to the world of football with great generosity.”

Fiorentina will play their next game on Sunday, away at Bologna.
During Commisso’s tenure, Fiorentina reached three finals, two in the Conference League and one in the Coppa Italia, all played under Vincenzo Italiano, who is now in charge of Bologna.
