Como 1907 produced a superb first-half display at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia and went into the interval 2-1 ahead, having taken control with goals from Álex Valle on 36 minutes and Nico Paz on the stroke of half-time. Inter Milan did pull one back in first-half added time through Marcus Thuram, but the hosts had already shown enough quality to believe in an upset.
