Inter Milan pulled off a remarkable comeback to beat Cesc Fabregas’ side and move nine points clear at the top of the table.

Despite trailing the Lariani by two goals to nil just before halftime, the Nerazzurri secured a 4-3 victory on Sunday evening.

Indeed, Marcus Thuram scored his second league brace of the season to initiate the comeback.

Meanwhile, Denzel Dumfries scored twice beyond the hour mark to complete the turnaround, having scored one league goal all season beforehand.

However, Massa offered Como a lifeline in the 89th minute, penalizing Ange-Yoan Bonny’s reckless tackle on Nico Paz.

Still, the 44-year-old’s decision to point to the spot caused widespread controversy.

Graziano Cesari Blasts Davide Massa After Como 3-4 Inter Milan Win

“In the first half, there is a shot that is deflected by Bastoni, but with his arm kept close to his body,” Cesari said. “Como, however, protest in the second half over the free-kick that led to Inter’s goal.

“Massa is close and whistles because Paz widens his stance towards the opponent, not in an attempt to play the ball. The whistle is inevitable even without contact.

“Also unquestionable is the free-kick for the 4-2: Kempf extends his arm and hits Barella. So up to this point, there are no mistakes.”

“87th minute: Massa is close and well-positioned,” Cesari added. “The referee initially awards a free kick after Paz’s shot and shows a yellow card to Bonny.

“VAR intervenes and calls for a penalty because the contact is inside the box, but the footage is very easy to interpret. It is never a penalty. Paz’s shot hits Bonny on the back of the thigh.

“The distance is huge, there is no foul at all. It was enough to look at it – it’s very simple. Why do they get it wrong? Because they forget to check whether it is actually a foul or not.”
