Serie A side Como have released a statement about their stance about the racism incident that took place involving a defender of their side and Wolves in their friendly yesterday.

Both sides played a friendly last evening and it ended in a brawl. Wolves’ Hwang Hee-Chan was apparently racially abused by a Como player and Daniel Podence then later punched the player in question, whose identity remains unknown. Wolves have revealed that they will complain to UEFA regarding the incident.

Now Como have released a statement about the incident, stating that the player in question had not said anything racist and had only said: “Ignore him, he thinks he’s Jackie Chan,” saying this to a fellow defender during the game.

Como have also stated that they spoke to the player in question and he informed that referring to Hwang as ‘Channy’ was only a reference to his name and even Wolves players refer to the South Korean as ‘Channy’. Como state that they don’t believe their player said anything of racist nature and that the incident has blown out of proportion.
