Gilberto Mora has become one of the most sought-after young prospects in Europe after his breakthrough at Xolos de Tijuana in Mexico.
Just 16 years old, the versatile attacker is a regular in the first team for the club and has also made his senior debut for the Mexican national team, even being a part of the Gold Cup-winning squad.
As has already been confirmed, Real Madrid have taken note of the teenage prodigy’s potential and have expressed an interest in his acquisition.
But, according to journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, bitter rivals FC Barcelona have also joined Real Madrid in the race to sign Gilberto Mora.
The Blaugrana, in fact, are understood to have already made initial contacts with the 16-year-old wonderkid’s camp to explore the possibility of a future transfer.

Mora is represented by super-agent Rafaela Pimenta, who also happens to be the agent of Manchester City megastar Erling Haaland.
Barcelona are believed to have approached the youngster’s camp to discuss his career ambitions and other potential details likely to come up in a future transfer.
Barcelona and Real Madrid have gone to war over the signings of prodigious youngsters regularly in the past.
Not so long ago, both clubs held an interest in the likes of Arda Guler and Endrick, but it was Real Madrid who came out on top. The same happened with the case of Franco Mastantuono as well.
And, there is a good chance that Real Madrid will have the upper-hand over their rivals once again with Mora. After all, the 16-year-old wonderkid ‘dreams’ of playing for Los Blancos, according to Tijuana’s youth development coach, Ignacio Ruvalcaba.
“He has a dream, which is to play for Real Madrid, but he keeps his feet on the ground. He always watches football and loves watching Real Madrid. He certainly sees himself playing there,” he said in a recent interview.
