The semifinal lineup for this year's CONCACAF Champions Cup semifinal has been confirmed, and we now know that it will be a Liga MX vs MLS final.
A goalless draw in the Mexican capital left it all to play for between Cruz Azul and Club América, whilst Tigres found themselves in the same situation following their meeting with LA Galaxy in California.
Pumas scored late against the Vancouver Whitecaps to set up a mouthwatering second leg at the Estadio Universitario.
The only all MLS affair saw Inter Miami suffer a 1-0 defeat to LAFC in the first leg, with it all to play for in Florida for the reverse meeting.
Club América's prize for winning the Clásico de Clásicos in the Round of 16 tie against Chivas was another Clásico, but this time much closer to home against city-rivals Cruz Azul.
La Máquina dismantled the Seattle Sounders in the last round, but not before a goalless first leg. Repeating that feat against América, all was on the line in the second leg.
Angel Sepúlveda gave the hosts an early lead with a bullet header, but the sides were back level in the second half with a deft touch from Álvaro Fidalgo. América's equaliser meant they would go through on the away goal if they could hold on, but Sepúlveda was on hand to end the tie with five minutes left in the game with a typical poacher's finish.
Tigres have had a turbulent month following the dismissal of Veljko Paunovic in March but turned a page by reaching the final four with a defiant result against the reigning MLS champions.
Two-nil to the good inside the first 10 minutes, Nicolás Ibáñez took no time to open the scoring before Uriel Antuna ended his desperate wait for a goal in Tigres colours since joining the club last summer from Cruz Azul with a curling effort inside the box.
Galaxy fought back, capitalising on a poorly judged back pass from Jaoquim for Joseph Paintsil to round the goalkeeper and tap into an empty net.
Chasing a one goal deficit, Tigres restored their two goal lead through Romulo but only for three minutes as Carlos Garces reduced the gap once again with a goal for the MLS side on the hour mark.
With Galaxy knowing that one more goal would send them through to face Cruz Azul, Tigres shut up shop and were able to keep the California outfit at bay to hold onto a special win.
All hanging in the balance between these two, as a late equaliser from Adelberto Carrasquilla handed Los Univeristarios a fighting chance heading into the meeting in the Mexican capital.
First blood went to the Canadian side, who broke the deadlock through Sebastian Berhalter with a flick of the highest order, but was quickly responded to by Guillermo Martínez pounced in the box as the two sides continued to battle for qualification.
The second half kept in the same vein until the 88th minute when substitute Ignacio Pussetto smashed home from close range, seemingly sending Pumas into the semifinals.
As much as they hoped it was the final piece of action in the game, things took a turn for the worse. Vancouver sent Monterrey packing in surprising fashion through the away goal rule in the previous round and would do the same here when Tristan Blackman was the first to respond in the box to send the Whitecaps through instead of Pumas.
