Conceicao admits Juventus should have scored more goals | OneFootball

Juventus beat Frosinone 1-0 in their first league game of the season, but the performance was not good enough. Against a smaller team like Frosinone, the Bianconeri simply have to play better, especially considering the quality within their squad and the expectations surrounding them this term.

The men at the Allianz Stadium have proven to be one of the strongest teams in the country, and much is expected of them this season. However, their performance in that match suggested they should not be expected to improve significantly on what they achieved last term.

Juventus have top players all over the pitch and a very good manager, making their inability to consistently meet expectations disappointing for their supporters. The team continues to let its fans down, which is something Luciano Spalletti is not happy about as they look to improve their performances.

Conceicao Admits Juventus Must Improve

One of their most important players now is Francisco Conceicao, who did his best during the match. Although Juventus eventually secured the victory, the attacker acknowledged that the team still needs to perform better and become more effective as a unit.

Juventus had enough control to create opportunities, but they were unable to turn their superiority into a more comfortable result. Their failure to score more goals allowed Frosinone to remain within touching distance, particularly as the match entered its closing stages.

Conceicao was pleased with the victory and the team’s start, but he also recognised that Juventus could have made more of their chances. He said via Football Italia:

“We brought the game our way, we could have scored two, three, four goals, that would have been good, but we didn’t manage it.

“It was good to win this match, we started well and that’s the important thing. In attack we have a lot of options, that’s good because the team is more competitive.”

Juventus Have Room for Improvement

The comments from Conceicao highlight the difference between securing three points and delivering a convincing performance. Juventus achieved their immediate objective against Frosinone, but their display showed that there is still plenty of work to do.

The Bianconeri have the quality to perform at a higher level, but they must become more clinical when opportunities arise. Their narrow victory provides a positive start, yet the team will need to improve if they are to meet the expectations placed upon them this season.

Conceicao’s assessment is therefore encouraging, as the attacker understands that winning is important but that Juventus must also raise their level. The next matches will provide an opportunity for the team to show that this performance was not an indication of what supporters should expect throughout the campaign.
