Two of Spanish football’s leading clubs have on Friday evening closed an agreement on the transfer front.

That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who has confirmed that Barcelona and Atlético Madrid have at last found a deal for Clément Lenglet.

Defender Lenglet has for his part been at the heart of lengthy talks between the respective boards at the Camp Nou and Wanda Metropolitano for several weeks now.

This comes with the latter having identified the Frenchman as the missing piece from manager Diego Simeone’s central defensive ranks.

For some time, an accord regarding the financial terms could not be found between the parties, owing in large part to Lenglet’s considerable wage packet.

But, as alluded to above, on Friday, the impasse has been overcome.

As per a report from Fabrizio Romano, Lenglet is all set to extend his Barcelona contract through the summer of 2027, before joining Atlético on a season-long loan.

The deal will not feature an option to buy, with the Rojiblancos set to cover the bulk of the stopper’s salary.
