It’s been confirmed that a Chelsea player will now undergo undergo foot surgery this weekend in London after an injury.

Chelsea have done well to ease up on their injury issues a bit this season. However, the curse still seems to follow them around with more and more injuries stacking up again as the season has gone on.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea legend keen on return to Stamford Bridge and will not ask for big wages!

On this occasion, the injury we are talking about will not effect Chelsea directly, but it is to a player who will be a Chelsea player this summer when he turns 18. So really, the surgery news is good news for us at least, just not such good news for the player or his current club, Sporting Lisbon.

Geovany Quenda is joining Chelsea this summer, everything has been confirmed in that deal – so he is currently on loan at Sporting.

The young winger looks like yet another top talent that Chelsea have picked up before they get too big or too expensive, as is the nature of their youth-led project.

And he has recently been compared to rising Spanish star Lamine Yamal and also praised for his character.

Quenda off for surgery

According to Record in Portugal, Quenda is set to undergo foot surgery this weekend in London for a metatarsal fracture he suffered last month against Estrela Amadora.

A positive move

It should only be considered a good thing that Quenda is going for surgery as this will hopefully sort out any further issues he might have with the injury. However, it’s not great that a player so young is already having surgery on an injury. We will just have to hope that he isn’t another injury prone player.
