Aaron Ramsdale, Lewis Hall, Sandro Tonali, William Osula, Jacob Murphy and Nick Woltemade all come in for Nick Pope, Sven Botman, Bruno Guimarães, Anthony Gordon, Anthony Elanga and Joe Willock.
Ramsdale saved three spot-kicks in United's FA Cup third round tie against AFC Bournemouth, which went to penalties following a 3-3 draw after extra time, and replaces Pope in-between the sticks, who is named on the bench.
Malick Thiaw and Dan Burn are set to feature in central defence while Kieran Trippier, who captains the visitors this evening, and Hall will occupy the defensive flanks.
Tonali, who scored on his Premier League debut against Aston Villa on the opening weekend of the 2023/24 campaign, starts in the middle of the park alongside Jacob Ramsey, who began his playing career at Villa before joining the Magpies from his boyhood club last summer.
Murphy makes his 248th appearance in all competitions for United while Harvey Barnes, who netted a brace in last month's third round tie against Bournemouth, is also handed a start.
Woltemade, celebrating his 24th birthday today, will be targeting a first goal since scoring a brace in December's 2-2 draw against Chelsea while Osula makes his first Magpies start since September after netting twice in a 4-1 Carabao Cup win against Bradford City.
Howe has a number of attacking options to deploy from the bench if required, including Gordon, Elanga and Willock, with the latter netting twice in last season's FA Cup fourth round victory against Birmingham City, while youngsters Alex Murphy, Leo Shahar and Sean Neave are among the substitutes.
Seung-soo Park, who started for Newcastle's Under-21s in Friday's Premier League 2 clash against Arsenal, is named in a senior matchday squad for the first time since featuring on the bench in United's goalless draw against Villa in August.
