Manchester City embark on their first Premier League encounter without the injured Rodri, in what is likely to be a stern challenge of Pep Guardiola’s managerial brilliance.

In a challenging week for the Premier League champions across both the Premier League and off the field, Manchester City remain unbeaten in all competitions and will be looking to extend that run into another gameweek after the clash with Newcastle United on Saturday.

A trip to Slovakia for matchday two of the UEFA Champions League’s league phase follows the clash at St James’ Park this weekend, with Eddie Howe’s side almost certainly set to test the limits of this Manchester City squad.

The Magpies come into the clash with Manchester City off the back of a tough result at Craven Cottage last weekend, having been defeat by Marco Silva’s Fulham in a 3-1 outing, with no opportunity to bounce back in Carabao Cup action due to a postponement at AFC Wimbledon.

Manchester City will be without a number of players in a growing list of injury concerns, as all of Nathan Ake (muscular), Rodri (ACL & meniscus), Kevin De Bruyne (groin) and Oscar Bobb (bone fracture) will play no part this weekend.

Ahead of kick-off at St James’ Park, here is how both Eddie Howe and Pep Guardiola have lined up their respective Newcastle United and Manchester City sides in Premier League action!
