Manchester City are in action at the London Stadium on Saturday night as they return to Premier League action against West Ham with a desperate need of three points to keep their title hopes alive.
The Blues arrive in east London in difficult circumstances, having suffered a 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie on Wednesday night.
A stunning first-half hat-trick from Federico Valverde left City with a mountain to climb in the second leg and Guardiola will be acutely aware that further Premier League dropped points would make an already fraught run-in significantly more complicated.
City currently sit second in the Premier League table, seven points behind leaders Arsenal – though with a game in hand – and Guardiola did not mince his words in his pre-match press conference on Friday, admitting the Blues are “desperate” for the win.
He will also be forced to watch proceedings from the stands after picking up a yellow card during the FA Cup fifth round win over Newcastle United in February.
West Ham enter this one having somewhat steadied the ship in recent weeks, losing only one of their last five league games as they sit just a point outside the relegation zone.
A 1-0 win over Fulham in their most recent Premier League outing, followed by a penalty shootout victory against Brentford in the FA Cup, has restored some confidence to Graham Potter’s side but the Hammers have not beaten Manchester City in a top-flight fixture in over a decade.
For the visitors, Josko Gvardiol is not expected to feature again until the end of May following a tibial fracture while Mateo Kovacic has returned to training and Rico Lewis is still nursing a swollen ankle.

West Ham are without Lukasz Fabianski, who has missed the entire campaign with a back problem, while Crysencio Summerville is also sidelined with a calf injury.
