Michael Carrick has once again omitted Benjamin Sesko from the squad for today’s challenging Premier League match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
The interim Manchester United boss has named the same starting XI that performed so well against Manchester City last time out.
Senne Lammens starts in goal. The back four consists of Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw.
Noussair Mazraoui returns to the squad following his Africa Cup of Nations campaign. Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven are named among the substitutes.
Matthijs de Ligt remains sidelined through injury. Carrick stated in his pre-match press conference that the defender is edging closer to a return.
Casemiro will operate in the number six role, with Bruno Fernandes as the number ten and Kobbie Mainoo in the number eight position. Up front, Carrick continues his experiment of deploying Bryan Mbeumo as the centre forward, with Amad on the right and Patrick Dorgu on the left.
All eyes will be on Casemiro following the announcement this week that he will depart the club at the end of the season.
Altay Bayindir is the substitute goalkeeper. Heaven, Yoro, Mazraoui and Tyrell Malacia provide defensive cover on the bench. Manuel Ugarte, Mason Mount, Matheus Cunha and Sesko complete a strong list of substitutes. Josh Zirkzee has not recovered from a minor injury in time to feature.
Kick-off at the Emirates is at 4.30pm. A win for United will see them leapfrog Chelsea and Liverpool into fourth place in the table.
