The confirmed Newcastle team v Marseille has now been announced.
Eddie Howe’s side returning to Champions League action.
Ahead of this fifth round of matches, Newcastle United standing in sixth place in the Champions League table of 36 clubs in total.
Last season, 12 points guaranteed a place in the play-offs, whilst 16 points ensured a top eight finish and automatic progress to the last 16 knockout stages.
Obviously, if United can get another win tonight and move onto 12 points from a possible 15, with three matches left to play, they will be in an incredibly strong position.
Eddie Howe and his players should come into this match full of confidence after the performance and win against Manchester City at the weekend.
Whilst Newcastle have no away wins so far in the Premier League after six games on their travels, they beat Union S-G 4-0 in their only Champions League away match so far this season.
Newcastle team v Marseille:
Pope, Livramento, Thiaw, Schar, Burn, Willock, Bruno, Tonali, Barnes, Gordon, Murphy
So three changes to the eleven that started against Manchester City
Burn, Willock, Gordon
Hall, Joelinton Wotemade
Thompson, Ramsdale, Hall, Botman, Joelinton, Elanga, Woltemade, Alex Murphy, Ramsey, Miley, Alabi
Great to see that all three who started on Saturday but aren’t in the first eleven tonight, are all on the bench, rather than injured.
Also, exciting midfielder 16 year old Sam Alabi is also named on the bench.
