Real Madrid have intensified their position regarding the Negreira Case after officially submitting documentation to UEFA and requesting the resumption of disciplinary proceedings linked to the matter.

The move comes after months of public comments from club president Florentino Perez, who had previously indicated that Real Madrid would take the issue to European football’s governing body.

The club has now followed through on that position by formally contacting UEFA and asking it to revisit a case that continues to generate debate across Spanish football.

What’s the story?

In a statement published on Real Madrid’s official website, Los Blancos explained why it believes UEFA should take further action.

The club argues that the payments linked to former vice-president of Spain’s Technical Committee of Referees, Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira, raise serious concerns regarding competitive integrity and warrant renewed scrutiny at a European level.

According to Real Madrid, the issue goes beyond domestic football and directly affects the credibility of sporting competitions.

The club has therefore urged UEFA to reassess the situation and determine whether disciplinary measures should be applied within its own jurisdiction.

UEFA urged to resume disciplinary proceedings

A key part of Real Madrid’s submission is their request for UEFA to reactivate disciplinary proceedings that had previously been opened.

The club believes the issue has remained unresolved for too long and has called for action from European football’s governing body.

“In this context, Real Madrid has urged the immediate resumption of the disciplinary proceedings initiated by UEFA, considering it unacceptable that this situation has been prolonged over time, since its persistence seriously compromises the credibility of football, its institutions and its leaders, and therefore demands a firm response. exemplary and immediate in the field of sport, regardless of the future of the ongoing legal proceedings,” the Madrid club added.

It must be remembered that Perez has been on the offensive against Barcelona since the presidential campaign, and ever since his derogatory comments directed at Barça, the club has filed an official complaint against the Real Madrid president.
