Confirmed: Real Madrid squad list to face Malaga | La Liga MD 3 | OneFootball

Real Madrid have announced their squad for the match against Malaga, with just one minor change compared with the lists for their first two league games.

The Merengues will lock horns with the newly-promoted La Liga club at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday evening after back-to-back wins over Espanyol and Real Sociedad.

The only change in the squad sees Javi Navarro come in as third goalkeeper instead of Sergio Mestre.

Navarro was the hero of the Youth League triumph last season and gets the call-up because Castilla begin their league campaign on Monday.

Real Madrid go into the game with as many as seven absences from the first-team squad, leaving manager Jose Mourinho with very little room for manoeuvre.

The Portuguese coach is still waiting for the return of Endrick, Ferland Mendy, Raul Asencio, Eder Militao, Thiago Pitarch, Rodrygo and Aurelien Tchouameni.

Mourinho will therefore once again rely on the same three academy players: Mario Rivas, Jorge Cestero and Alexis Ciria.

There will definitely be one change to the starting XI against Malaga. Mourinho confirmed before the match that Marc Cucurella will start at left-back in place of Alvaro Carreras.

However, that is unlikely to be the only alteration to the team. With several players competing for places and the squad still affected by injuries, Mourinho could make further changes when Real Madrid take on the newly promoted side.
