Confirmed: Real Madrid’s Camavinga starts for France after almost a year against Belgium | OneFootball

Having returned to the France setup under new manager Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga has been named in the starting XI for tonight’s game against Belgium.

The 23-year-old midfielder has endured a difficult past year or so, with minutes not coming regularly at Real Madrid, which eventually led to him missing out on a spot in the Les Bleus squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Having been recalled by Zidane for the current international break, even though he has only played a few games for Los Blancos, Camavinga now starts for France against Belgium.

This comes after he made a 12-minute cameo in the 2018 World Cup winners’ previous Nations League encounter against Turkiye last week.

It also happens to be Camavinga’s first start for France in almost over a year, with his last starting appearance coming in October 2025, in a 2-2 draw against Iceland.

The midfielder will be eager to repay the faith shown by Zidane and put on an impressive performance, which could also help him turn around his situation at Real Madrid.

Zidane had also called up two other Real Madrid stars, Kylian Mbappe and Ibrahima Konate, to the squad during the current break.

However, both players have been released from the national team camp after suffering minor injuries last week. The French duo, though, is expected to be available for Los Blancos’ game against Villarreal after the break.
