CONMEBOL fines Boca and Vasco Arruabarrena over restart delay and issues warning | OneFootball

CONMEBOL announced that Boca Juniors and coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena have been sanctioned for rule breaches during the first leg against O'Higgins at La Bombonera. The ruling imposes a combined fine of USD 35,000 and a formal warning.

The principal offence relates to article 5.1.11.5 of the Club Manual, which penalises delays in the resumption of play.

Of that sum, USD 20,000 is charged to the club and USD 15,000 to Arruabarrena, deemed responsible on the touchline. The amount will be deducted automatically from Boca's broadcasting or sponsorship income.

Boca also received a written warning for breaching article 5.4.2, governing the use and return of bibs in competition zones. No additional fine was issued for this first offence, though it has been recorded as a negative precedent.

Under article 27 of the Disciplinary Code, any repeat of comparable offences could bring significantly harsher sanctions, both financial and sporting.

Boca are scheduled to play again in the Sudamericana on Tuesday 11 August against Recoleta. The club has an unextendable seven days to appeal, which requires a USD 3,000 fee for the claim to be admitted.
